For this project, I interviewed Sensei Omar Maldonado about his journey to becoming a karate instructor and dojo co-owner. Here, I was able to exercise both my interview and observational storytelling abilities.

In this video, I detail the many benefits that have been linked to spending time in the great outdoors. I also speak about the barriers to access that many BIPOC individuals face when it comes to accessing natural spaces.

This video was researched, written, directed, filmed and edited by me, Lexie Maldonado. This piece demonstrates my ability to write and work with a script, and shows how I present researched facts in an engaging format. My use of motion graphics, with tweaks to the visual display to match the theme and facts being presented, as well as my use of captioning, shows my attention to detail.

This is a conceptual advertisement for the makeup and skincare brand Glossier. Glossier prides itself on embracing natural beauty, setting itself apart from many other makeup brands. I focused my storytelling on highlighting the brand’s values through multiple storylines.
